MEET LEON

Hi,

I’m Leon, a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, registered with the BACP. I moved to Newcastle from London over 15 years ago, before training for three years at the Northern Guild of Psychotherapy and Counselling. This included a placement at a GP surgery working with referred clinical patients from a wide range of backgrounds to support and improve their mental wellbeing and to help individuals change behaviour, increase happiness, and overcome problems.

Alongside being a Counsellor, I currently work as a Mental Health Practitioner within Adult Safeguarding protecting adults aged 18 or over from abuse or neglect. Previous to this I used to work within the Heritage and Creative Arts sectors on a range of projects within Museums, Art Galleries, Television and Film in locations across the UK, Europe and New Zealand!

My path to becoming a therapist has been a personal one. Having benefitted so much from therapy, I jumped at the chance to train as a therapist myself. I learnt powerful practical tools to understand the root of my difficulties, balance my thinking, change unhelpful behaviours and calm my mind and body.

When it comes down to it, I’m just really interested in people! Being a therapist doesn't give me all the answers - I’m a work in progress too, and life can always throw the unexpected into the mix.

I'm really glad you've found me. If you're here because you're struggling with some difficult or confusing feelings, or a painful situation, then we can work together to help.
